In Simpson's case-- if she drives about 65 miles a day-- she will probably be spending a little more than $1,500 on gas during the fall and spring semester. Factoring in her yearly car insurance of $1,200 and any maintenance her car may require, she will be spending at least $3,000 to commute for those two semesters.
